City Offices Closed- Good Friday

City offices will be closed Friday, April 18, 2025 in observance of Good Friday. For Utility emergencies please call 706-335-3164 and an after hours staff will assist. For any other emergency, please call 911.



City Water

The City is aware of concerns regarding the recent change in taste or smell of city water. This change occurs one to two times per year, typically during spring and summer months, due to higher pollen levels, blooming plants, and increasing temperatures. We want to reassure everyone that city water is safe for drinking, cooking, and bathing. We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as needed. Utility Payment location effective April 4, 2025

Effective Friday, April 4, 2025 , Utility Payments will only be accepted at the new location: Commerce Administrative Complex located at 110 State Street, Commerce, GA The night drop box is located at the Corner of Cherry Street and State Street for after hours payments. You may come inside on the 2nd floor (main level) and go up to the 3rd floor (upper level) by using stairs or elevator conveniently located on the main floor lobby to pay in person. Water Main Break Woods Bridge Road area

Homestead Exemption

INTENT TO OPT OUT OF HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION: The City of Commerce intends to opt out of the statewide adjusted base year ad valorem homestead exemption for City of Commerce. All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this matter to be held at Commerce Cultural Center on January 21, 2025. City Offices Moving Soon

City Hall office located at 27 Sycamore Street and Planning & Utilities located at 545 Cedar Drive will be moving to the Commerce Administrative Complex located at 110 State Street soon. Please check back for updates during the Month of February and March.



Road Closures - Inclement Weather

The Hospital Road from Old Maysville Rd to Ridgeway Rd is closed due to being iced over. The City is treating the road now, however, it is too dangerous for vehicle traffic. Please use alternate path. Cherry Street next to Little Ward Funeral Home is also closed due to water leak. Crews are working to repair and reopen as quickly as possible.
