Notice of Wastewater Spill
In accordance with Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) regulations, this is notice that on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at approximately 2pm a wastewater spill was discovered at Beck Road, Commerce, GA. City utility staff responded immediately and found that the spill occurred due to a blockage in the gravity sewer line. It is estimated that more than 3,000 gallons of untreated wastewater spilled onto the ground, no ground water was impacted. The ground affected by the spill has been cleaned up and treated with lime. Public notice signs have also been posted around the spill site. EPD was notified on Monday, August 31, 2026. The City of Commerce is taking all necessary precautions and complying with EPD guidelines.
