City Commerce Hires New Police Chief

The City of Commerce has completed its search for a new police chief as 1st Lt. Jeff Drossman of the Hall County Sheriff’s Office has been selected to fill the role.

Drossman has over 20 years of combined law enforcement experience with the Hall County Sherrif’s Office, Jackson County Sherrif’s Office, Auburn and Monroe Police Departments. He has served in numerous supervisory and leadership capacities in uniformed patrol, criminal investigations, jail bureau, and specialized units throughout his career. Drossman holds a master’s degree in public administration as well as managerial, supervisory, and multiple other certifications through GA POST.

With the assistance of consultant Underwood & Company, the City’s search spanned 4 months which included a review of over 30 applications from all over the country and interviews of 9 candidates.

The City looks for Drossman to be sworn-in in May.
