ICE STORM WARNING

Posted on

We are less than 24 hours away from a significant ice storm. The National Weather Service has issued an Ice Storm Warning from Saturday at 1:00pm through Monday morning.

This isn't simply a "snow day". We are bracing for heavy ice that will likely snap tree limbs, take down power lines, and make roads impassable. Outages could last for days.

Our City crews are fully staged and ready to respond. We are doing our part and now we need you to do yours.

To report downed trees, power lines, or water issues, please use the following:

* Downed Trees/Lines - call 706.335.3164 press #0 to report.

If dispatch cannot answer, simply hang up and call back.

*NEVER NEVER touch or approach a downed power line! Assume all lines are live and dangerous.

*If you are using a generator - please call 706.335.3164 and let us know! This may make a life or death difference when repair on power lines.

DELAY TRAVEL ! Ice will make driving treacherous. If you must go out and a traffic signal is dark, treat the intersection as a four-way stop.

We are closely monitoring the forecast. For the latest City updates you can look on this post that will be pinned to top of page or check out www.commercega.gov on the homepage under public notice.
