Washington Street Road Closure for New Traffic Pattern

In keeping our residents informed of the new traffic pattern at Washington Street and Jefferson Road (Highway 15); Georgia DOT shared the attached map with the city with details of the changes.

Traffic delineators will be placed on Jefferson Road to stop the vehicles from making the slight veer left into Washington Street

Entry into Washington Street from Jefferson Road traveling east will be a dedicated left turn (vehicles will not be able to do the slight left veer to turn into Washington Street); traveling west will be a dedicated right turn on to Washington Street

Exit out of Washington Street for a right turn onto Jefferson Road will be a one lane; left turn onto Jefferson Road will be a two-lane entrance/exit
Washington Street, beginning at Hood Street will be closed to thru traffic beginning May 1, 2025, until the project is completed (estimated time of 2-3 weeks/weather permitting). Use North Elm Street and turn onto Jefferson Road (Highway 15)
The project construction will begin May 5, 2025; this project is designed, funded and beginning date scheduled by Georgia Department of Transportation.
